Visit Vacaville is a non-profit organization tasked with marketing the City of Vacaville as an overnight tourist destination. We are the city’s official destination marketing organization.

Position Overview
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with experience and skills in social media, web content management, writing and editing for the web and site management.
The content manager will be responsible developing the voice for all aspects of the organization’s online presence through writing, editing, and proofreading of site content. The content manager will also be responsible for crafting site promotions, email newsletters, and online outreach campaigns. In addition, posting content to numerous industry websites and social media platforms will be required.
The content manager will work closely with Visit Vacaville Staff, Vacaville Hoteliers and partners, so strong communication skills are needed. The ideal candidate will also have experience managing online marketing and outreach campaigns. Tasks require a strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines. The Content Manager reports to the Executive Director.

Essential Job Functions
· Manage Social Media Content on numerous platforms
· Create, develop and manage content for organization’s web presence (requires working with content management software)
· Maintain a consistent look and feel throughout all web properties
· Write and distribution of e-newsletter and promotional emails (Constant Contact)
· Blogging
· Copyedit and proofread all web content
· Keep current with emerging web technologies
· Track and report on all site metrics
· Work cooperatively with staff and stakeholders

Position Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
· Passion for Social Media
· Exceptional writing, communication and organizational skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office products
· Knowledge of Constant Contact (or similar email marketing solution).
· Blogging
· Use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare, WordPress and other Social Media Platforms
· Functional knowledge of HTML
· Possess knowledge of SEO (search engine optimization)

Salary

Full Time Position (40 hours per week). Hourly rate commensurate with experience. Range: $15.00 -$18.00 per hour.

Vacaville, CA has a rich history that a lot of people don’t know about. A lot happened from it’s humble beginnings to it’s now world-renowned shopping and outdoor offerings; some might just surprise you! Lets get started shall we?

  1. Circa 1900, Vaca Valley was known as the “Early Fruit District” because it’s fruit ripened faster than anywhere in the U.S.
  2. Here is the entire student body of Vacaville High circa 1913. There were only a total of 46 students!
  3. Since 1851, citizens were required & expected to serve as firemen. It wasn’t until 1957 that Vacaville Fire Department was established.

  4. Due to a perfect combination of geographical and climatic forces, Vacaville was the the #1 place to grow fruit at the turn of the century.

    “Vaca Valley, celebrated as the earliest fruit district of the United States, is charmingly located in the northern part of Solano County, between two ranges of high hills, which protect it from fogs and high winds and exercise a potent influence on the rainfall. No portion of California is better known in eastern fruit markets and none more worthy of the high reputation it has attained.” – The Vacaville Reporter, April 19th 1912

  5. The famous Buck Mansion was built in 1891 by architect George Sharpe with an price-tag of only $5,000. That would be roughly $120,000 in 2010!
  6. Built in 1907, Vacaville Town Hall has the distinction of being one of the first reinforced concrete structures in the West.
  7. Peña Adobe is the oldest building in all of Solano County. The redwood used to build it was probably hauled by oxen from Napa, CA
  8. President Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Queen Elizabeth II, Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby were all visitors to the Nut Tree.
  9. Following the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, 10lbs of prized Vacaville cherries were sent to New York to be auctioned to support shipwreck survivors. How much did they go for? A whopping $648. That would be just over $15,000 today!
  10. California’s most renowned botanist Willis Jepson was raised in Vacaville. Among other notorieties, Jepson is also known for founding the Sierra Club with John Muir.
  11. Vacaville has the distinction of having more electric vehicles per capita than any other place in the US.
  12. In 1915, Vacaville received a grant to build a Carnegie library. Almost 100 years later it stands as the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce.
